SMILE-FX Orthodontic and Clear Aligner Studio Practice Overview
Direct Answer: SMILE-FX is a board-certified orthodontic practice in Miramar, FL, led by Dr. Tracy Miao Liang. The studio provides braces, clear aligners, and advanced digital treatment for children, teens, and adults across South Florida, combining specialist-led care with transparent financing.
Most parents I talk to feel a knot in their stomach when the pediatric dentist mentions “phase one” or “crowding.”
Adults are often worried their smile will look “bracketed” in a Zoom call.
These are exactly the concerns I hear daily from families in Miramar, Pembroke Pines, and Weston.
They want real answers, not sales pitches.
At SMILE-FX Orthodontic & Clear Aligner Studio, our approach starts with one truth: every case is different.
There’s no universal “best” treatment, only the right plan for your face, your bite, and your life.
I’m Dr. Tracy Miao Liang, board-certified orthodontist and Clinical Director here.
My team and I see the full spectrum of South Florida smiles, from early interceptive care to complex surgical orthodontics.
We built this practice on the belief that high-level clinical care should feel friendly, transparent, and genuinely local.
What Makes a Board-Certified Orthodontist Different in South Florida?
Direct Answer: Board certification means an orthodontist passed rigorous voluntary exams beyond dental school, demonstrating advanced skill in diagnosing and treating misalignments. Only a select percentage of orthodontists earn this credential, and Dr. Liang is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.
When I walk into a room, I want families to understand the depth of training behind that initial smile scan.
I completed my orthodontic residency at the University of Minnesota, where my master’s thesis focused on 3D digital imaging of teeth using MRI.
Before that, I studied biology and business at Cornell University, graduating Summa Cum Laude.
That research background means I see your scans not just as a digital mold, but as a map of bone, roots, and airway space.
In Florida, the humidity and salt air can affect how adhesives cure.
We use HEMA-free universal adhesives and Transbond XT systems with vacuum-assisted isolation to ensure bonds stay solid, even in coastal communities like Hollywood or Miami Lakes.
My certification demands ongoing re-evaluation, so I’m constantly refining techniques to avoid bracket failure in our unique climate.
You can verify my board-certified status anytime through the American Board of Orthodontics.

Clear Aligners vs. Braces: Which Route Fits Your Lifestyle?
Direct Answer: Both braces and clear aligners can correct a wide range of issues, but the fastest option depends on case complexity, age, and compliance. In our Miramar studio, we blend clinical judgment with digital planning to recommend the appliance that saves you time and meets your aesthetic goals.
If you’re a teen who plays contact sports or an adult who wants the “Miami Glow Up” without metal, we have options.
On one hand, traditional metal braces and clear ceramic braces still rule for severe rotations, impacted teeth, and complex bite corrections.
On the other, clear aligners like Invisalign® and OrthoFX® let you smile confidently through every event.
I’m a Top Rated Invisalign Provider, which means we tackle hundreds of aligner cases yearly, giving us deep insight into which movements track predictably and which need extra planning.
For night-owl shift workers or busy parents, we also offer the FDA-approved NiTime aligner system designed for night-only wear.
I’ve seen it work beautifully for adults who don’t want to think about aligners during their workday.

At SMILE-FX, we provide personalized quotes during your free consultation, with monthly payments starting as low as affordable rates, $0 down payment options for qualified patients, and 0% interest options available.
| Treatment Type | Miami-Dade Monthly Start | Broward Monthly Start | Palm Beach Monthly Start |

| Invisalign | as low as $149/mo | as low as $139/mo | as low as $159/mo |

I’ve worked with families across every budget bracket.
We accept all major PPO dental insurances and handle the paperwork so you don’t have to.
Many patients appreciate that we offer free retainers and whitening in select packages, valued over $1,000, because I believe the final result should stay beautiful long after the braces come off.
We also comply with Florida Senate Bill 1808, ensuring any patient overpayment is refunded within 30 days through automated ledger auditing.
That kind of financial transparency builds trust before we even begin moving teeth.
How Remote Monitoring Saves Hours for South Florida Commuters
Direct Answer: Using DentalMonitoring™ and GRIN, patients snap weekly scans with their smartphone. I review those scans remotely, cutting unnecessary office visits by up to 40% without compromising clinical oversight. For parents battling I-95 or Palmetto Expressway traffic, this is a huge time saver.
| Treatment Type | Typical Duration | Office Visits/Year (No Remote) | Office Visits/Year (With Remote) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Invisalign (Teen) | 12-18 months | 10-12 | 6-8 |
| Braces (Adult) | 18-24 months | 14-16 | 10-12 |
| NiTime Aligners | 6-10 months | 8-10 | 4-6 |
Our in-house 3D printing lab also means we can produce aligners and retainers on site.
No waiting two weeks for a shipment from a national lab.
If you’re driving in from Davie or Cooper City after work, that quick turnaround means fewer trips overall.
See how our cutting-edge technology makes treatment faster and more precise.
When Should Your Child Get an Orthodontic Screening?
Direct Answer: The American Association of Orthodontists recommends a first evaluation by age 7. At this stage, an orthodontist can spot jaw growth issues, crossbites, and crowding early, even if active treatment starts years later.
| Warning Sign | What It May Indicate | Recommended Action |
|---|---|---|
| Teeth don’t meet when biting | Open bite, possible tongue thrust or airway issue | Schedule an evaluation; may need early interceptive appliance |
| Front teeth protrude significantly | Increased risk of injury during falls or sports | Protective care planning, possible phase one treatment |
| Crowding visible by age 6-7 | Future extraction may be needed without intervention | Monitor growth; palatal expansion might be indicated |
| Loud breathing or snoring at night | Potential airway restriction, narrow jaws | Airway-focused orthodontic evaluation and possible medical referral |
I always align Phase 1 start dates with Broward County school calendars when possible.
Parents prefer to begin expander therapy right after testing weeks, when stress is lower.
That small scheduling shift can make a huge difference in a child’s cooperation and comfort.
Adult Orthodontics: The "Face Card" Investment You Deserve
Direct Answer: More adults are seeking orthodontics to boost confidence, fix relapse, or prepare for restorative work. With discreet ceramic brackets, clear aligners, and night-only options, treatment fits seamlessly into professional and social schedules.
I treat a lot of professionals who realize their smile isn’t matching their career ambition.
A cosmetic “Soft Glam” look doesn’t require invasive veneers when healthy teeth can be aligned gently.
We’ve helped real estate agents, teachers, and healthcare workers achieve that camera-ready smile using low-profile ceramic braces or Invisalign.
Many adults worry their teeth will shift back; that’s why I design retention protocols that include free retainers and yearly monitoring.
I also coordinate with your general dentist or periodontist if you have implants, crowns, or bone loss, ensuring safe movement every step.
Check out our treatable cases to see how we handle adult orthodontics with precision.
What Our Miramar Patients Ask Most Often
Direct Answer: Common questions revolve around cost, speed, pain, and whether Invisalign really works as well as braces. Short answers: costs are flexible with financing, speed depends on compliance, discomfort is temporary, and Invisalign can match braces when used under specialist supervision.
“Is Invisalign cheaper than braces here?”
Not always, but it’s often comparable. We’ll give you a clear breakdown for your exact needs. Both options have monthly payments starting as low as $109–$139.
“Will treatment hurt?”
You’ll feel pressure for a few days after adjustments or new aligner trays. That’s a sign of healthy tooth movement. We offer VR headsets, weighted blankets, and Netflix to make appointments something to look forward to.
“Do you take my insurance?”
We accept all major PPO plans and will verify your orthodontic benefits before you commit. Our team speaks English, Spanish, and Mandarin, so no detail gets lost in translation.
“Can I switch from braces to Invisalign mid-treatment?”
Sometimes, yes. I’ve transitioned patients when their compliance and goals changed. It requires a careful mid-course correction but can be done.

Lingual Braces: The Hidden Treatment South Florida Pros Are Choosing
Direct Answer: Lingual braces place brackets on the back of teeth, making them truly invisible from the front. SMILE-FX is one of fewer than 10 practices nationwide with expert credentialing in both the Win Lingual and Inbrace Lingual systems, giving Miramar patients access to a level of discreet care most orthodontists cannot offer.
I see the look on a real estate agent's face when I tell them they can straighten their teeth without a single person knowing.
That is what lingual braces do.
Brackets and wires go behind your teeth, facing your tongue.
From the outside, your smile looks exactly the same during every listing appointment and closing table photo.
At SMILE-FX, I am one of a handful of orthodontists in the entire country expert-credentialed in the Win Lingual braces system and the Inbrace Lingual system.
These are not basic setups any dentist can offer.
Win uses ultra-thin custom-milled brackets designed for maximum comfort against your tongue.
Inbrace uses a smartwire system that requires fewer adjustments over time.
I plan every lingual case using our 3D CBCT imaging and AI treatment software.
The precision required for lingual orthodontics is extreme because I am working from the backside of the tooth where access is tight.
That is exactly why so few providers master it.
For adults in Weston, Pinecrest, or downtown Miami who refuse to look "braced" during a deal, this is the ultimate solution.
See what makes our approach different on our How We're Different page.
FX Ai Braces: A Proprietary Precision System Built Right Here in Miramar
Direct Answer: FX Ai Braces is SMILE-FX's proprietary 3D-printed bracket system. Using artificial intelligence treatment planning and in-house fabrication, this system reduces average treatment time to 4 to 6 months for select cases while delivering sub-millimeter accuracy that traditional bracket placement cannot match.
Most orthodontic offices order brackets from a catalog.
We do not.
Our FX Ai Braces system is something I developed because I got tired of settling for "close enough."
Here is how it works.
I start with a 3D CBCT scan of your entire craniofacial structure.
Then our AI software maps the ideal final position of every tooth, factoring in root angles, bone density, and facial symmetry.
From that digital plan, we 3D-print custom brackets and bonding trays right inside our Miramar studio.
The bracket placement is not eyeballed.
It is mathematically predetermined.
When I bond them onto your teeth using our vacuum-assisted isolation and HEMA-free universal adhesives, each bracket sits exactly where the AI calculated it should.
That precision is why our FX Ai Braces cases finish in as little as 4 to 6 months.
No guesswork.
No repositioning brackets six months in.
Just a straight line from scan to smile.
This is the kind of technology that separates a specialist-led studio from a chain that treats orthodontics like an assembly line.
Explore our cutting-edge technology to understand how we build treatment around your exact anatomy.
Airway Health: The Orthodontic Connection Most Parents Never Hear About
Direct Answer: Narrow jaws and crowded teeth are often visible signs of an underlying airway issue. At SMILE-FX, I use 3D CBCT imaging to evaluate not just tooth position but the entire airway space. Early interceptive expansion can improve breathing, reduce snoring, and potentially prevent a future sleep disorder diagnosis for your child.
A mom brings her 7-year-old in because the pediatric dentist said the teeth look crowded.
She mentions offhand that her son snores loudly.
That detail matters more than she knows.
Crowded teeth and loud snoring together often point to a narrow upper jaw and restricted nasal airway.
At SMILE-FX, I do not just look at teeth.
My 3D CBCT scan shows me the full airway passage from nose to throat.
If I see restriction, I can intervene early with palatal expansion that widens the jaw and opens the airway.
This is not just about straight teeth.
It is about quality sleep, brain development, and long-term health.
I am one of the few orthodontists in Florida who integrates airway evaluation into every child exam.
The biological window for this kind of interceptive growth treatment is narrow.
Ages 7 to 10 is when the upper jaw sutures are most responsive to expansion.
Miss that window and the conversation shifts from expansion to extraction or even jaw surgery later.
I coordinate with pediatric ENTs and sleep physicians across Broward and Miami-Dade when a case needs multidisciplinary care.
For parents who want to understand what signs to watch for at home, visit our treatable cases page to see real examples of airway-focused orthodontics.
Second Chances: What Happens When Orthodontic Treatment Fails
Direct Answer: Failed orthodontic treatment happens more often than people admit. Teeth shift back, bites reopen, and TMJ pain develops. SMILE-FX sees a high volume of retreatment cases because Dr. Liang's board-certified surgical orthodontic training and complex case experience allow her to correct what previous treatment missed or worsened.
I sit across from patients who spent years in braces somewhere else and now hate their smile.
Their bite feels off.
Their teeth shifted right back.
They feel frustrated and skeptical.
I understand why.
When treatment fails, it is rarely the patient's fault.
It is usually a planning failure.
Maybe the previous provider did not account for a tongue thrust habit.
Maybe they ignored a posterior crossbite.
Maybe they just lined up the front six teeth and called it done without addressing the foundational bite.
At SMILE-FX, I retreatment cases demand a forensic approach.
I re-scan everything.
I study the CBCT to see root positions and bone health.
I map the joint function.
Only then do I design a correction plan.
Often, this involves surgical orthodontics, impacted tooth exposure, or a combination of aligners and braces for different phases.
I am a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, a credential held by roughly 30% of orthodontists.
That certification demands I demonstrate surgical and complex case competency at the highest level.
Patients who have been burned before need a specialist who can actually fix what went wrong.
That is what I do.

The Studio Experience: What Happens When You Ditch the Word "Clinic"
Direct Answer: SMILE-FX operates as a studio, not a traditional clinic. That means optical scanning instead of goopy impressions, VR headsets during appointments, weighted blankets for comfort, and a VIP Tech Suite designed to remove anxiety from every visit. It is orthodontics built around the human experience, not just the clinical procedure.
I made a decision early on.
I did not want a sterile clinic.
I wanted a space where people actually enjoyed walking through the door.
So we built a VIP Tech Suite.
You do not gag on impression material here because we use optical scanning only.
You can pop on a VR headset and watch Netflix while I place brackets.
We have weighted blankets for anyone who feels nervous.
The entire experience is designed to feel less like a medical procedure and more like stepping into a space where people genuinely care about your comfort.
Our studio was named Best Orthodontic Experience South Florida 2025 and winner of the Evergreen Award for sustained excellence in patient care.
We were also recognized as Best Clear Aligner Provider 2025.
These are not awards we chased.
They reflect the system we built from day one.
When you combine a board-certified orthodontist, AI treatment planning, and an environment that prioritizes comfort, the clinical results improve because patients actually show up and comply.
It is that simple.

Why Seeing a Board-Certified Orthodontist Beats Going to a General Dentist for Braces
Direct Answer: A board-certified orthodontist completes 2-3 years of specialized residency training focused exclusively on tooth movement and facial growth after dental school. General dentists may take a weekend course to offer aligners. The depth of training separates the two, and that gap shows up in treatment speed, safety, and final results.
I get calls from people who started clear aligner treatment with their general dentist and something went sideways.
Their bite feels off.
A tooth stopped tracking.
They have new jaw pain they never had before.
This is not a knock on general dentists.
They do incredible work keeping teeth healthy.
But moving teeth through bone is a different science entirely.
I spent three years after dental school doing nothing but studying tooth movement, facial growth, and biomechanics.
My residency at the University of Minnesota involved thousands of cases before I ever treated my first patient as the lead doctor.
A general dentist might take a weekend aligner certification and start cases the following Monday.
The difference shows up in the details.
When a tooth is not tracking in an aligner, an orthodontist knows whether to wait, add an attachment, or switch to a different force system.
A less experienced provider often just tells the patient to "keep wearing it" until the problem compounds.
At SMILE-FX®, every case carries my direct oversight as a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.
That credential means I passed rigorous written and clinical examinations that roughly 30% of practicing orthodontists ever attempt.
When you compare outcomes, specialist-led treatment finishes faster on average and with fewer complications because the planning accounts for root position, bone density, and long-term stability.
If you want to understand what goes into that level of training, read through our board-certified specialist page.
What Nobody Tells You About Life After Braces or Aligners
Direct Answer: Retention is permanent. Teeth have memory and will shift back toward their original positions without consistent retainer wear. At SMILE-FX®, I design retention protocols that include free retainers in select packages and yearly monitoring to protect your investment for decades.
Nobody talks enough about what happens when the braces come off or the last aligner tray is done.
You see the smile.
You take the photos.
Then I hand you a retainer and tell you something most people do not want to hear.
You will be wearing it for the rest of your life.
Not all day.
But nightly.
Forever.
Teeth have something called periodontal ligament memory.
The elastic fibers that hold your teeth in place want to pull them back to where they used to be.
This is not a flaw in the treatment.
It is biology.
I see relapse cases where someone stopped wearing their retainer six months after treatment and now their lower front teeth are crowding again.
The fix costs more time and money than simply wearing the retainer would have.
At SMILE-FX®, I include free retainers in select treatment packages because I do not want cost to be the reason someone skips retention.
I also schedule yearly monitoring checks so we catch any shifting before it becomes a real problem.
We fabricate our retainers in-house using our 3D printing lab, which means if you lose one or your dog chews it up, we can produce a replacement fast without shipping delays.
For busy adults in Pembroke Pines or Weston who cannot make it in during the week, we offer Saturday appointments for retainer checks.
The patients who keep their smiles looking exactly like the day treatment ended are the ones who treat their retainer like a toothbrush.
Non-negotiable.
Every night.
No exceptions.

Virtual Consultations Are Changing How South Florida Starts Orthodontic Treatment
Direct Answer: A virtual orthodontic consultation lets you get a preliminary treatment plan, cost estimate, and timeline from your phone without driving to our Miramar studio. You send photos, I review them personally, and we discuss whether you are a candidate for clear aligners, braces, or need an in-person scan. It saves time for busy families and professionals.
I know South Florida traffic.
The Palmetto at 5 PM.
I-95 anywhere near downtown.
Telling someone to fight that just to find out if they are even a candidate for treatment does not make sense.
That is why we built a virtual consultation pathway that actually works.
Here is how it goes.
You take a few specific photos of your teeth with your phone, following simple instructions we send you.
I review them personally.
Not an assistant.
Not an AI.
Me.
I look at your bite, your crowding, your spacing, and your overall presentation.
Then we hop on a video call or phone call and I tell you honestly what I see.
If clear aligners like Invisalign® or OrthoFX® could work, I will tell you.
If traditional braces or our FX Ai Braces system would get you a better result, I will tell you that too.
I give you a ballpark cost and timeline right on the call.
No pressure.
No commitment.
Just information from a board-certified specialist who has treated hundreds of cases like yours.
For parents trying to figure out if their 7-year-old needs Phase 1 treatment, a virtual consult can answer that question without pulling the kid out of school for half a day.
If the case looks like it needs a 3D scan and a full workup, I will tell you that straight, and we will schedule you for a free in-studio scan.
Start yours at our virtual consultation page.
Eating, Brushing, and Living With Orthodontic Appliances: The Real Deal
Direct Answer: Braces require avoiding hard, sticky, and crunchy foods that can break brackets. Clear aligners must be removed before eating or drinking anything other than water. Both demand excellent oral hygiene. The appliance that fits your lifestyle best depends on your eating habits, brushing discipline, and willingness to manage small daily inconveniences for a big long-term result.
Let me give you the honest breakdown nobody gives at the consultation.
With braces:
Popcorn is your enemy.
Caramel will destroy a bracket faster than you can say "emergency appointment."
You will need to cut apples into slices and tear corn off the cob.
Brushing takes longer because you have to navigate around every bracket and wire.
Flossing requires threaders or a water flosser.
I recommend the Waterpik to every braces patient because it cuts cleaning time in half and gets places floss cannot reach easily.
The upside?
You cannot forget to put them back in.
They are working 24/7.
With clear aligners:
You take them out to eat and drink anything besides water.
That sounds easy until you are at a friend's birthday dinner and you have to discreetly pop them out, store them safely, eat, rinse your mouth, and get them back in within a reasonable window.
You need to brush after every meal before reinserting them.
If you do not, you trap food against your teeth inside the aligner and cavities become a real risk.
You must wear them 20 to 22 hours per day for predictable tracking.
That means no long coffee sipping sessions with the trays out.
The discipline is real.
But for adults who want the "Miami Glow Up" without visible metal, the tradeoff is worth it.
Our NiTime aligners flip the script entirely.
You wear them only at night for about 10 hours.
Treatment takes a bit longer than full-time aligners but for someone who cannot think about trays during their workday, it is a genuine solution.
Take our Smile Quiz to see which approach matches your daily routine before you even step into the studio.
Spanish-Speaking Orthodontic Care in Miramar: Hablamos Español
Direct Answer: SMILE-FX® serves South Florida's diverse community with a bilingual team fluent in English and Spanish. From the first phone call through treatment completion, Spanish-speaking patients receive clear communication in their preferred language, ensuring full understanding of treatment plans, financing options, and home care instructions.
South Florida is home to a massive Spanish-speaking population.
Miramar, Hialeah, Doral, Weston.
Families who prefer discussing treatment in Spanish should never feel like they are getting a second-tier experience.
At SMILE-FX®, multiple team members speak fluent Spanish.
That means your consultation, your financial discussion, your clinical questions, and your home care instructions all happen in the language you are most comfortable with.
No nuance gets lost.
No important detail slips through a translation gap.
When I explain why a child needs palatal expansion or how to manage aligner wear, having that conversation in Spanish means the parent fully understands and can confidently manage things at home.
We also have Mandarin speakers on the team because Miramar and Pembroke Pines have growing Asian communities who deserve the same level of linguistic comfort.
Orthodontic treatment is a big investment and a long relationship.
You should never feel like you are nodding along without fully understanding what is happening.
Visit our Spanish page to learn more or call us directly to speak with a Spanish-speaking team member today.
Emergency Orthodontic Care: What to Do When Something Breaks
Direct Answer: Most orthodontic emergencies are minor and manageable at home until you can get to the studio. A broken bracket that is not causing pain can wait a few days. A wire poking your cheek needs orthodontic wax and a call to schedule a quick repair. True emergencies like trauma to the face or a severe infection require immediate attention and a call to our Miramar studio at (954) 824-9707.
Brackets break.
Wires poke.
Aligners get lost.
It happens.
Here is what you need to know when it does.
If a bracket pops off a back tooth but is not hurting you, cover any sharp edges with the orthodontic wax we give you at the start of treatment and call us during business hours.
We will get you in for a quick rebond.
If a wire is poking your cheek and you cannot get in immediately, use a clean nail clipper to trim the very end if you feel comfortable doing so, then cover it with wax.
Do not cut it if you are unsure.
Just wax it and call us.
If you lose an aligner, put in the previous tray or the next tray immediately depending on where you are in the sequence and call us for guidance.
Never go days without wearing anything because teeth shift fast and you will lose progress.
For real emergencies like facial swelling, severe pain, or trauma to the mouth, call our studio right away at (954) 824-9707.
If it is after hours, go to the nearest emergency room.
Our in-house 3D printing lab means we can often produce replacement aligners or retainers same-day or next-day without waiting for a national lab to ship.
That speed matters when something breaks on a Friday afternoon and you do not want to lose a whole weekend of progress.
See how our studio operates differently on our How We're Different page.
Your Smile Investment Deserves Specialist Oversight From Start to Finish
Direct Answer: Orthodontic treatment is a significant investment of time and money. Choosing a board-certified orthodontist who personally oversees every case from planning through retention gives you the highest probability of a result that looks great and stays stable for decades.
I opened SMILE-FX® because I wanted to build the kind of practice where I would send my own family.
Where every scan gets read by a specialist.
Where every treatment plan is custom to the patient, not to the profit margin.
Where technology like AI bracket placement, 3D printing, and remote monitoring actually makes treatment faster and easier instead of just sounding good on a website.
We have the awards to back it up.
Best Clear Aligner Provider 2025.
Best Orthodontic Experience South Florida 2025.
